When I was in high school, I had the great pleasure to work with Mr. McCauley and have him as my college counselor. I chose Mr. McCauley as my counselor because I knew he has extensive experience working with students from Asia on their college applications and that he has great connections with many admission officers from top-tier colleges and universities in the United States. During my college counseling sessions, Mr. McCauley played a major role in helping me decide which schools could best fit my academic and personal interests. He assisted me a great deal on my college essays and helped me explore who I am, how I truly wanted to present myself, and how to best showcase my strength and potentials. Thanks to Mr. McCauley’s supervision, my parents’ support, and my own hard work, I eventually was able to secure offers from some of the best universities in the U.S. such as Brown, Berkeley, Georgetown, etc. I eventually decided to go to Brown and it was so far one of the best decisions I have made in my life.

I entered Brown University as a biology major and considering Brown’s Open Curriculum, I was able to explore broadly and take courses from all academic disciplines. During my freshman year I took courses in computer science, philosophy, psychology, math, and Japanese. During my sophomore year, I took more courses in economics, history and art history. After having a taste of so many different academic areas, I eventually decided to major in History and double major in East Asian Studies (Japanese). I graduated with Magna Cum Laude with a 3.96 GPA.
I could not thank Mr. McCauley and Brown more for helping me explore fully my academic passion and career path. After studying at Brown, I now know that I had the opportunities to know and become friends with some of the best people and brightest minds in the world. For me, college is not really about what courses you take, but about what kind of people you meet and interact with, whether they are your professors or schoolmates.
I am currently pursuing my law degree (J.D.) at Columbia University Law and expect to complete the degree in May of 2025.
