David McCauley is an exceptional college counselor and all-around school person. I have known David for nearly a decade, and in that time I have witnessed first-hand how deeply knowledgeable he is about the college admissions process, how committed he is to helping young people be their best selves, how deftly he handles sometimes-difficult situations with families, and how willing he is to pitch in and serve in a multitude of ways when needs arise. David approaches all he does with the mindset of a teacher and the wherewithal of a seasoned veteran of the college process. He knows schools and kids and processes. He always maintains a sense of humor and decency in his approach to this work. He writes eloquent and thorough recommendations for the students he serves, and he balances that highly personalized advocacy with a 30,000-ft. understanding of different schools institutional priorities.
